phpIPAM - IP Address Manager
IT Project -- Systems Administration, IP Address Management
phpIPAM
phpIPAM is a self-hosted, open-source IP address management platform used to track the devices on the network along with their respective IP adresses, subnets, and VLANs. This self-hosted tool giving IT teams greater visibility and control over hardware and technology resources.
The Process
This project was driven by the need to replace a fragmented spreadsheet-based IP address management system with a centralized, scalable IP management solution. After evaluating available platforms, and consulting with CSU's Division of IT, I selected phpIPAM to run on a Linux virtual machine. I configured the server environment, migrated and corresponding data, established backup procedures, and developed documentation to support long-term maintenance. I also customized the system to improve organization and streamline tracking. The completed solution provides a reliable source of truth for IP addresses on the CIRA network and what devices are utilizing those IPs along with their subnet and VLAN information.
